South Indian actor Dhanush and his wife Aishwaryaa have announced their decision to part ways after 18 years of marriage.
Dhanush took to Twitter to announce separation from filmmaker and singer Aishwaryaa, the elder daughter of superstar Rajinikanth.
The couple got married in 2004, when Dhanush was 21 and Aishwarya 23. They have two sons – Yatra and Linga – born in 2006 and 2010.
Dhanush wrote, “18 years of togetherness as friends, couple, as parents and well wishers to each other. The journey has been of growth, understanding, adjusting and adapting. Today we stand at a place where our paths separate.”
Dhanush also urged people to respect their decision and give them the needed privacy.
Aishwaryaa who posted the statement on Instagram said “No caption needed. Only your understanding and love necessary”.
