Meta-owned platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and Threads, are currently facing technical issues, rendering them inaccessible for many users on Tuesday.
The disruptions started around 10:00 am ET, with more than 300,000 reports of outages for Facebook and about 40,000 reports for Instagram, according to the website.
“We’re aware people are having trouble accessing our services. We are working on this now,” Meta spokesperson Andy Stone said in a post on X social media.
Outage tracking website Downdetector.com also revealed that Meta Platforms’ were down for tens of thousands of users. Downdetector.com tracks outages by collating status reports from several sources, including users.
The outage has impacted functionalities across these social media platforms.
Facebook and Instagram users have complained about log in issues on both these platforms as many were logged out of both.
Many users were also asked to change passwords. Meta’s status dashboard showed the application programming interface for WhatsApp Business was also facing issues.
