Garlic Parathas

A flavourful, nutritious meal doesn’t have to be hard to prepare. This one is great for breakfast, lunch or dinner. A traditional Indian flatbread with a twist. Healthy and delicious.

Mix 2 tsp crushed garlic, 1 tsp crushed shallots, 1/4 tsp crushed red chillies and a handful of herbs like chopped coriander leaves or dried fenugreek leaves in a large bowl.

Add 2 cups of whole wheat (atta) flour. Add 1/2 tsp salt. Whisk well.

Make thin pancakes on a hot pan, turning them over until cooked.

Serve hot with yogurt and a sweet pickle.

Note: If your whole wheat parathas taste bitter, it’s because your flour has gone bad. Fresh whole wheat flour is mildly nutty in flavour. Whole wheat flour is more apt to go rancid than all-purpose because it contains the good-for-you, naturally-occurring oil present in whole grains. So try to use fresh flour.
