Every incredible manifestation of God’s supernatural, superabundant authority and ability had happened to disciplined Christians, who obey precise, divine orders at specifically determined times and places.
God is orderly, faithful, very loving and holy! Let’s learn to follow Him, led by the Holy Spirit.
When we were babies in Christ Jesus, our needs were promptly met, and we enjoyed supernatural favours pretty easily, just as physical toddlers receive every attention and affection no matter what they do.
However, as we move forward and mature, much is required of us since we’re becoming God’s representatives, leaders and faithful ministers of the Gospel of Jesus Christ in words and deeds. With maturity, comes responsibility!
Unfortunately, many saints want God to pamper them, and be spoon-fed like toddlers, while expecting ground shaking miracles that only the mature, disciplined and faithful can receive, contain and manage.
Some of the characteristics of spiritual maturity are revealed in the ability to stay focused, faithful, and fervent in prayer, faith and absolute obedience especially to specific divine directions and instructions. Immaturity, insensitivity and carelessness cause us to miss our MOMENT of divine visitation.
Luke.19.44.
They’ll smash you and your babies on the pavement. Not one stone will be left intact. All this because you didn’t recognise and welcome God’s personal visit.” (your day of visitation)
Every amazing miracle in scripture happened because someone was mature, humble, faithful and obedient enough to pray and receive divine instructions and direction, and then obey them promptly, whether they were reasonable or not. Whether men approved or not.
1) How did the Red Sea part and God’s people walked on dry ground?
Exodus 14.15,16.
Then the LORD said to Moses, “Why are you crying out to me? Tell the people to get moving! Use your shepherd’s staff–hold it out over the water, and a path will open up before you through the sea. Then all the people of Israel will walk through on dry ground.
2) How did Elisha receive the highly coveted anointing and leadership mantle to succeed the great Prophet Elijah?
2 Kings 2.9,10,12,13.
When they came to the other side, Elijah said to Elisha, “What can I do for you before I am taken away?” And Elisha replied, “Please let me become your rightful successor.” “You have asked a difficult thing,” Elijah replied. “If you see me when I am taken from you, then you will get your request. But if not, then you won’t.” Elisha saw it and cried out, “My father! My father! The chariots and charioteers of Israel!” And as they disappeared from sight, Elisha tore his robe in two. Then Elisha picked up Elijah’s cloak and returned to the bank of the Jordan River.
3) How was it possible for Peter walk on the raging Sea of Galilee?
Matthew 14.28,29.
Then Peter called to him, “Lord, if it’s really you, tell me to come to you by walking on water.” “All right, come,” Jesus said. So Peter went over the side of the boat and walked on the water toward Jesus.
4) How did only 120 disciples out of the thousands of disciples of Jesus Christ receive the power of the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost?
Luke.24.49.
Jesus said to them. “And now I will send the Holy Spirit, just as my Father promised. But stay here in the city until the Holy Spirit comes and fills you with power from heaven.”
Acts.1.8.
But when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, you will receive power and will tell people about me everywhere–in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
Acts.1.14- 15.
They all met together continually for prayer, along with Mary the mother of Jesus, several other women, and the brothers of Jesus. During this time, on a day when about 120 believers were present, Peter stood up and addressed them as follows.
Acts.2.1- 4.
On the day of Pentecost, seven weeks after Jesus’ resurrection, the believers were meeting together in one place. Suddenly, there was a sound from heaven like the roaring of a mighty windstorm in the skies above them, and it filled the house where they were meeting. Then, what looked like flames or tongues of fire appeared and settled on each of them. And everyone present was filled with the Holy Spirit and began speaking in other languages, as the Holy Spirit gave them this ability.
The more mature we become, the more of the fruit of the Holy Spirit in Galatians 5:22-26 we will bear. This will generate in us the capacity for a lot of focus, discipline, patience, perseverance and then prompt, absolute obedience we need to receive the incredible anointing, miracles and Blessings that God, who can never lie promised us in Christ Jesus.
Let’s spend more time fellowshipping with God in prayer, fasting and His Word, and then keep doing what waiters do – SERVE WHOLEHEARTEDLY and you will definitely be blessed and be a blessing abundantly!
Hallelujah!
