Monday Reflection – Aug 26

Many people want blessings from Jesus, but few want to follow His heart. Obey Him in everything. We may look at God as a killjoy who wants the opposite of what we want. The truth is – GOD KNOWS BEST. He sees the future and truly knows what is best for us. He does not make life hard, He knows what’s coming and walks through the fire with us, calming us, holding us close and healing us.

You may want the glory but you do not want to walk through the fire. The fire of GOD purges you, heals you and convicts you daily. Obedience comes with a great price. Holding tight to the Holy Spirit isn’t easy; it can cost you time, money, ambitions, people, friendships, your life even.

“For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.” (Romans 8:6) Choosing to be spiritually minded, to live a life worthy of the Holy Spirit’s gentle persuasions, will guide us in our decisions and protect us from both physical and spiritual danger.

Obedience requires discipline – to read, meditate and speak the Word over your life daily, to pray at all times for all people, to kill the flesh and feed your spirit more than you feed your material needs. Be so aware of the Holy Spirit, that you hear and obey Him always. Obeying God just doesn’t mean big decisions to do with ministry – it can be about marriage, way of life, material things, speech, choices, behaviour. Its just as about hours of prayer, as well as about healing of that addiction, deleting that angry text, sealing your mouth when you are about to cause pain, choosing to talk to people who left you broken, reaching out to a person who you barely know, stop sulking and griping and being grateful always.

Easy to pray for people; to love them and to care for them like JESUS did, is a lot harder. Easy to live as a good person, but to be truly godly is harder. To worship Jesus as God is easy, to obey every tiniest nudge of HIS is a lot harder.

You can either chose to go Jesus’ way after pursuing a lifetime of the world’s emptiness, losing time, energy and peace of mind on the way, facing dead-ends/failure or just call on His name now. Obey Him even when you just don’t want to. Do not grieve the Holy Spirit at any cost. THIS is the best partnership you can ever have – you and Jesus. Don’t wreck it.

We all have said some gritted teeth prayers and those are never easy. But do it now.

JESUS is just a whisper of a prayer away.
