The inner man never dies. The outer man weakens and dies daily. Yet, most of us focus on nourishing our bodies more than our souls.
Four meals daily, two baths, gym, make up, dental care, hair care and the works – for a body that’s going to one day perish. We snack whenever we are hungry too. Yet, we do not stop and nourish the inner man daily. Even if we do, we rush through it. And if our hands get dirty, we wash them – several times, whenever required. How many times do you pray to purify yourself and wash off sin from your soul?
Jesus said, “I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst” (John 6:35)
Smith Wigglesworth, a mighty man of God, once stopped a friend who was driving him some place. Smith asked him to brake suddenly. He then told the startled friend that he hadn’t read the Bible he carried for the last 15 minutes. Much different from the average believers and even ministers of today who can live, work and even minister, without going deep daily into worship, prayer and the Word of God.
We are inundated daily with images in the media of beauty, traits, characteristics and physical attributes.
External trappings do not matter. The inner man matters. Feed your soul daily – it could be starving for JESUS.
“People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart (1 Samuel 16:7).
Hell is hot and forever.
It does not make sense wasting time, money and energy into caring for the body without first ensuring that your soul is on its way to heaven.
