We sing – ‘the cross before me, the world behind me’. But we need to examine ourselves to see if we are, in reality, poor souls who have never found salvation, assurance, cleansing and pardon – at the cross.
When we face death, let’s not cling to a picture or a piece of metal or wood, hoping to cross the river. Not a pendant, not a picture, not a cross in a church.
The Cross we really should want is the one we should embrace NOW – obedience to His will for our lives. To be His example to the world.
