Real wisdom is the application of God’s Word to situations and challenges that one may face in life.
Yet, it is one of the main things missing from people’s daily walk. We don’t apply the Word of God to our lives. We don’t know how to. We may have read it, may have even memorised it, but we do not know how to make it part of our lives.
We don’t speak it, pray it over our needs, meditate on its meaning, nor take every thought captive to its truth.
Life and death are in the power of the tongue and the Word is alive and active, sharper than a double-edged sword. We have the Word’s power for our use – we need to thrive on that, instead of on idle chatter.
The Bible asks us in the Book of Proverbs to get knowledge and understanding, as well as wisdom.
One cannot get it in a 20 minute sermon on Sundays, nor from a Bible study once a week. Those things help, but it’s usually someone else’s opinion that people rely on, instead of actually learning the Word on our own and discerning how to apply it.
It’s every individual’s responsibility to study and then to apply the Word to one’s own life and challenges. That’s true wisdom.
It makes a big difference to ask for the wisdom of God. He gives it liberally. Praise Him. Seek His wisdom and apply His Word.
Owning a bible or knowing the Word and not using it, is like possessing a sword and not knowing how and when to wage war with it.
