2 week’s night curfew in Kerala

Kerala government will impose night curfew for two weeks in the state. The curfew will be imposed from 9 pm to 5 am.

The decision was taken in a high level meeting held on Monday, under the leadership of the Chief Secretary Dr V P Joy, considering the surge in Covid cases within the state – 18,257 on Sunday and 13,644 on Monday.

No restriction is imposed on public travel or freight transport. Shops and services except medical shops and emergency services are to be closed by 9 pm. Private tuition centres are not allowed; online classes are to continue.

Strict restrictions will be imposed in malls. Theatres can remain open until 7 pm. Police will conduct checks at traffic junctions.

The government has decided to resume work from home.

Celebrations related to Thrissur Pooram, a local festival, has been  limited – the public is not allowed to enter the festival ground, only the organisers can be part of the rituals.

The government has directed all domestic travellers coming to the state to undergo RT-PCR tests.
