Pick your wedding flowers

Every wedding is different, so each one will need different flowers depending on the venue and on other aspects of the wedding. For example, if you plan on having a wedding in a garden then you may not need as many flowers as you would in a large indoor event hall.

Either way, it’s important that you make sure that you have all the floral arrangements you need for your wedding day, so let’s look at a comprehensive list to help you stay on track.

Bridal bouquet

The bridal bouquet is arguably the most important floral aspect of your wedding. They can be large and extravagant or small and cute. Speak with professional florists to learn your options and get a better idea of what would go with your wedding dress.

Bridesmaids bouquets

If you want your bridesmaids to carry bouquets then you’re going to need to add this to your checklist as well. Typically, they look like the bride’s bouquet but you can make them a different colour or a different style. It all depends on your preference.

Corsages

A corsage can be a good alternative to bouquets if you want to be less traditional in your wedding. Corsages are small arrangements made to lie flat, and they are attached to dresses or worn on the wrists. The mother of each individual in the wedding often wears a corsage so that they can be distinguished as being part of the bridal party.

Buttonholes

Buttonholes, or boutonnieres, are small floral gems designed to be worn on your clothing. They are typically attached to the jacket (slipped into the buttonhole – hence the name) and oftentimes the father of each individual in the wedding is wearing one. You can choose just about any flower you wish for the buttonhole flower.

Floral archway

When you’re working with a florist, you will find that you can have a stunning floral archway. It’s a bit of work but it can make your wedding ceremony look spectacular, especially if you are having an outdoor ceremony. They also make great entrances for brides and can be a beautiful backdrop for photos.

Table centres

The floral arrangements for table centres will also be a focus when you are getting floral arrangements ready for your wedding day. Table centres can be simple or exotic depending on the theme of your wedding as well as your preferences and the type of table. Make sure that the beautiful flower arrangements chosen fit in with the venue scale and give guests enough space to speak to one another.

Ceremony arrangements

The flowers that you pick with your florist will vary depending on the event venue and whether it is a civil ceremony or a church ceremony. Altars as well as windowsills can be decorated with beautiful flower arrangements and you can also consider hanging arrangements to make the space even more stunning.

Now that you have a better idea of all of the aspects that come with wedding flowers you can make a comprehensive list of your own to make sure that you’ve covered everything for your wedding.
