Prayer against terrorism

Lord Jesus, we pray for terrorism to end across the world.

May Your Holy Spirit touch the hearts and hands of men and women who have chosen anger, hatred, ego, an unforgiving attitude, bitterness and pride as the way to win their battles.

Lord, show them that no agenda that’s against love will ever win.

We pray and bless the families and friends of the victims of terrorist attacks. We pray for those who died while saving the lives of others. For those who survived. For parents who lost their children. For the children who have been orphaned. For the men and women who have lost their spouses. For siblings and extended families. For all who mourn and those who comfort them.

Receive into your loving care the souls of those who were killed, comfort those who were wounded, console the friends of those who died and strengthen the hands of the rescue workers, medical professionals and caregivers worldwide, who face such situations daily.

We pray too for the attackers, as we must as Christians.

We know that the sadness we feel is your sadness. When you wept wept over the death of his friend Lazarus. Let us have Your zeal to help the wounded, for You never stood by watching when You sensed the need to show compassion.

We ask You Father God, that You give us a zeal that insists on acceptance a commitment that endures in non-violence and a patience that works for Your coming.

And teach us to hate only our prejudice which separate us from those different to us.

We ask this in the name of the Prince of Peace, Jesus Christ Our Lord and Only Saviour.

Heal our world, sweet Jesus, with Your mighty touch of love. Amen.
