Spaghetti Casserole – layered with a rich, meaty sauce, dollops of cream and plenty of melted cheese – a comforting, nostalgic meal that is guaranteed family-friendly.
Meaty, cheesy and delicious, this casserole is perfect for family dinners, casual entertaining, potlucks and for anytime you need to take a comforting meal to a friend.
Start by browning 400 gms of ground beef in a pan. Drain away the excess grease. Add 2 medium chopped onions and 1 tsp crushed black pepper. Cook well. Add 1 jar of spaghetti sauce. Cook.
Boil spaghetti noodles until al dente (firm). Drain, drizzle 1 tsp olive oil over, toss and set aside.
Combine 100 gms of cream cheese, ¼ cup sour cream, 1 cup cottage cheese/ricotta cheese and 50 gms of butter.
Preheat oven to 350°.
Combine the beef sauce with the spaghetti. Drizzle 2 tbs olive oil into a bowl. Then pour half of the spaghetti noodles on top. Pour cream cheese mixture on top of the noodles. Spread well. Pour the rest of the noodles on top of the cream cheese mixture. Pour spaghetti and meat sauce on top of noodles.
Bake for 30 minutes.
Remove from oven and sprinkle 100 gms of mozzarella cheese on top. Return to the oven for 15 minutes to allow the cheese to melt.
Serve hot with a side salad.
