Vikram tests Covid positive

National award-winning Tamil actor Chiyaan Vikram has tested positive for Coronavirus.

He developed mild symptoms, voluntarily took a test and the results were found to be positive. The 55-year-old actor, who was born Kennedy John Victor, is in home quarantine in Chennai.

He had been suffering from high fever for a week and has isolated himself. His son Dhruv and wife Shailaja have not reported positive for the virus.

The actor is currently working with his son Dhruv Vikram in Mahan and Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyan Selvan.

Known as one of the most versatile and hardworking actors of Indian cinema, Vikram is a born fighter. He was hit by a truck during a ride on his motorbike as a youth. He remained hospital-ridden for three years during college and subsequently went through twenty-three surgeries to prevent his leg from being amputated.

Vikram has promoted various social causes; he has been a brand ambassador of Sanjeevani Trust and a school for special children Vidya Sudha, where he stayed during the making of Deiva Thirumagal. Moreover, he has had a long-term association since the making of his film Kasi with the Kasi Eye Care, which does free eye surgeries for the poor. He has also set up The Vikram Foundation through his fan club to provide heart operations for the poor, educate poor children and rehabilitate victims from natural disasters. Every year, Vikram has celebrated his birthday doing charity work across Tamil Nadu and in 2008, he organised a camp where a thousand of his fans pledged their eyes in an eye donation appeal.

Within the last one month, actors such as Kamal Haasan, Arjun Sarja, Kareena Kapoor and Amrita Arora have also tested positive for Covid-19.
