War Room is Christ & Co. family’s all-time favourite movie and could soon be one of yours too. A game changer for many marriages, families, churches and even the youth.
The faith-based drama comes from the Kendrick brothers, who have such box-office successes as Facing the Giants, Fireproof and Courageous to their credit. War Room packs a powerful punch – use prayer as weapon, rather than a crutch.
The Jordan family lives the perfect American dream. It looks beautiful on the surface, yet has deep cracks underneath. Tony (T.C. Stallings) and Elizabeth Jordan (Priscilla Shirer) have great jobs, a beautiful daughter Danielle (Alena Pitts) and a stunning home. Tony aims to climb up the corporate ladder and neglects his family shamefully. Elizabeth has resigned herself to surviving the marriage for the sake of their child, harbouring bitterness and deep resentment.
Enter Miss Clara (Karen Abercrombie), Elizabeth’s newest real estate client. When Miss Clara observes Elizabeth’s struggle, she guides her into fervent prayer and spiritual battle against the real enemy – the devil.
Miss Clara challenges her to develop a battle plan of prayer to save her family. As Elizabeth begins to take baby steps in prayer, Tony’s world begins to unravel. The family traces their way back to God, love and healing.
The plot about a family struggling to stay together is more typical in our culture than we would admit. Secular media will also not admit that what families need is faith in God and prayer, to win the spiritual warfare we all are fighting against.
The film has a solidly professional visual sheen, and the performances are great – Abercrombie’s is particularly enjoyable, as the feisty oldster.
It is a must watch movie; every piece of advice by Miss Clara makes perfect sense. Watch it and understand who your true enemy is. War Room comes under the Star Select ‘Movies you must see before you die’ series. This movie very richly deserves this categorisation.
This is not a rabidly fundamental, ‘finger pointing at sinners’ kind of a movie. It deals with grace – the unmerited favour of a loving Father God.
